My name is Doug Schneider and thanks for visiting my
I am an actor/singer/director/teacher who graduated
with a theatre arts degree from UCLA. I trained in Los Angeles and New
York, studying acting and singing. I performed in Los Angeles and New York,
mostly as a cabaret singer and later as a singer/songwriter. I have in
recent years produced two CDís, one of all original songs and the other of
standards and theater music.
I came to Charlottesville in 1987 and became involved
in the local theater scene in 1993, mostly behind the scenes. But in 1995,
I took the plunge and auditioned for the role of Albin/ZaZa in Live Artsí
production of La Cage Aux Folles, having at that time not acted in
almost a decade. I got the part and the rest, as they say, is history.
Once bitten I never looked back and kept doing shows - some at Live Arts,
and others at Four County Players, The Hamner Theater, Heritage Theatre
Festival and New Lyric Theatre.
All in all, so far I have been in more than 40
productions in the Charlottesville area and am a full time vocal instructor
as well. I am blessed to have found a place in which I can pursue the
passion I have for theater and performing and also be able to support myself
by teaching others what I know and have learned after more than 40 years of
acting and singing.
At this website you will find lots of pictures from
some of the shows Iíve done as well as a link to upcoming events in which I
am involved. There is also a link to my vocal studio and my rates.
Please check out the links to the other local theaters and keep supporting
what we all do here in Charlottesville. It is most appreciated.
And next time to you come to a show which Iím in,
please stop and say ďhi."
And enjoy my website.
I am grateful for your continued support.
